Effect of Ca , myo - Inositol and Pectin on Somatic Mutation in Redifferentiated Plants of Saintpaulia ionantha Wendl . Cultured in vitro

Abstract
This study was to observe variations manifested in leaf shape and petal color of Saintpaulia cv. Delaware and cv. Julianne brought about by possible mutation of redifferentiated plantlets in vitro cultured with varied levels of Ca, myo-inositol and pectin which are regard to reduce the occurrence of callus somatic mutations. Some observations made thus are given as in the following;
1. Redifferentiated plantlets in the cultural medium added with the standard level of Ca became mature plants to flower. In the medium with the Ca without myo-inositol gave a rise to produce the most pronounced visible variations, and the petal color in paticular was considerably different from the mother plant.
2. In the medium with double level of myo-inositol plus the doubled Ca, the variation rate was least, and the petal color and flower shape as the plant grew larger was very different from the mother plant.
3. The addition of pectin resulted in decreasing rate of the tissue variation, and appearance of the variation was much resembled to the aforementioned.
